The Hola Mexico Film Festival is the largest Mexican film festival held outside of Mexico. The festival screens annually every May in the center of Los Angeles, at the prestigious Regal Cinemas in LA LIVE.
Directors, producers and actors are invited to attend the festival.
The festival showcases an Opening Night Film (US premiere), Closing Night (Musically Themed), and 3 galas, all playing at the Premiere House of 800 seats and a massive screen of 80 feet. General screenings take place at Auditorium 9 with 300 seat capacity. The festival is divided as such:
México Ahora – Fiction films that have come out of Mexico in the recent year.
Nocturno – Bizarre or horror films being produced in Mexico.
Documental – Real life stories often with more drama than any fiction could provide.
Hola Niños – This section looks to show the best animated films to be enjoyed with our kids and families.
Nuevas Voces – First time directors and new discoveries.Every year, Cinelatino presents the Audience Award worth $3,000 USD presented to the director.
