Celebremos sus triunfos imitando las buenas prácticas que hace como profesional, más que salir al Ángel de la Independencia a festejarlo.
Ahora como gran ganador de tres Óscares seguidos, Emmanuel Lubezki ya tiene un lugar privilegiado en la historia de México. Más allá de los chorros de premios, la grandeza del Chivo se debe a su capacidad de reinventarse en cada película, en su búsqueda de la perfección en todas sus escenas y porque no le da miedo innovar.
Lubezki es de esos mexicanos que sin querer nos dan las mejores lecciones de superación. Sin discursos, ni frases motivadoras desgastadas. En cada proyecto nos demuestra que es posible hacer las cosas bien, que si te limitas o agachas la cabeza estás destinado a perder y eso es algo que todos le reconocemos. Su obra tiene de todo, pero siempre resalta algo y eso se llama: atención a los detalles, una composición gloriosa en sus cuadros con cada elemento en su lugar, nunca sobra nada, todas las cosas que vemos tienen un balance virtuoso.
Desde hace 20 años el Chivo lleva tocando la puerta de los Óscares con nominaciones en la categoría de Mejor Cinematografía, iniciando con The Little Princess en 1996, Sleppy Hollow en 1999, The New World en el 2005, Children Of Man 2006 y The Tree of Life del 2011
Finalmente – todos lo hemos visto y celebrado- con Gravity (2013) y Birdman (2014) llegaron las estatuillas y ahora a conseguido su tercera al hilo que lo convierte en el cinematógrafo más galardonado de la historia del cine. ¡Wow!
En todas estas producciones comparte créditos con algunos de los directores más destacados del mundo; Terrance Malik, Tim Burton, Alejandro González Iñárritu y Alfonso Cuarón.
Más que ponerle un monumento o llenar de memes el facebook, mejor sigamos su legado, imitemos sus hábitos triunfadores, tengamos una mentalidad más abierta al cambio y que no nos de miedo buscarlo. Esa sería la mejor forma de rendirle culto a Lubezki.

Instead of parading at the Ángel de la Independencia, we should celebrate his triumphs imitating the good practices that makes him a professional.
It is inevitable, whether he wins or not an Oscar, Emmanuel Lubezky already has a special place in Mexican cinema history. Beyond his multiple awards, the greatness of “Chivo” resides in his ability to reinvent himself in every movie, in his quest for perfection in all of his scenes and because he is not afraid to innovate.
Lubezky is one of those Mexicans who unintentionally give us the best lessons of overcoming obstacles without speeches or motivational worn phrases. He demonstrates through each and every project that it is possible to do things right, that if you restrict your self or stick your head down you are destined to lose.
His work is rich and full, and always carries Chivo’s trademark: attention to detail, his frames are glorious compositions in which each element is in place, blur free, all we see in them has a virtuous balance.
For 20 years “Chivo” has knocked the door of the Academy Awards with Best Cinematography nominations, starting with “The Little Princess” in 1996, “Sleepy Hollow” in 1999, “The New World” in 2005, “Children of the Men” 2006 and “The three of life” in 2011. Finally the statuette arrived with Gravity (2013) and Birdman (2014) which we all celebrated and in this years edition he won a third straight prize with “The Revenant” making him the most wining photography director in the history of cinema. Wow!
In all these productions he shares credit with some of the most prominent directors in the world like Terrance Malik, Tim Burton, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu and Alfonso Cuarón.
Rather than erect a monument on his honor or fill Facebook with memes, we better follow his legacy, imitate his winning attitude, be more open minded and welcome change instead of fearing it. That would be the best way of worshiping Lubezky.
